Del-Fi
Apr 26 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Del-Fi is a duo consisting of Steve Hillson on trumpet and Garth Anderson on Drums, Bass, and Vox.
Drawing inspiration from Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, Nils Petter Molvaer and Soft Machine, we try to create an atmosphere of improvisation interwoven with songs never, ever played the same way.
Our recordings are meant to be an honestst document. (Almost) no overdubs, usually 1st takes, and very little editing/ production. The polish is in the imperfection. Our most recent 10 song effort can be heard on bandcamp. The Screaming Trees, by Del-FI
Garth and Steve also play in the 5 piece jazz group Optimum Trajectory which can be heard every
4th Friday at The Underground Music cafe 7-9pm

Jim Kessler
Apr 27 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Jim Kessler/Acoustic Folk Rock Classics

I sing songs that people want to hear— those with great melodies and harmonies—songs from The Everly Brothers, The Beatles, The Byrds, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, The Eagles, Tom Petty and countless others.

I have sung in many local pubs, wine bars and coffeehouses for more than 30 years.

I have performed for small audiences and I have performed to a full house of 12,000 at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Two years at the MacPhail School of Music and six years in the lead section of the internationally famous Minneapolis Commodores men’s chorus taught me much about vocal technique.

When famous musicians are interviewed they are often asked; “What would you be doing if you had not made it big?” They answer; “I would be performing at some local pub in my hometown.” Well, I am singing at many small pubs in my hometown.

And, loving every minute of it!

Lisa Kane is a Twin Cities based singer-songwriter with four full-length recordings to date.  Her music is a combination of folk-like southern rock and country blues.  Her lyrics and compositions are reminiscent of songwriters from the sixties and she most definitely has a fondness for storytelling.  She is known for her ability to highlight the female experiences, need for social justice and infatuation with life’s dark alley demons.  Lisa credits Bob Dylan, the Cowboy Junkies, Bonnie Raitt, The Band and Led Zeppelin as musical influences and has been fortunate enough to win not only a few songwriting awards, but receive significant local airplay as well.
