The unifying element of Debbie, Shawn, and Dawn is that they are dedicated students of Adam Granger’s. In choosing a name for the band, they wanted to recognize this connection and became Granger’s Moonshine. A definition of moonshine from the 1800s describes either: a) great ideas; or b) a bunch of nonsense—depending upon the dictionary you ask. Either way, the name fits and has stuck. The Moonshiners bring together a variety of guitar styles including fingerstyle, flat-picking, and slide for a robust acoustic sound. They play originals and covers from folk, alt country, and old time traditions, throwing in a jig here and there to spice up the mix. On occasion, Adam even joins in, adding flashy guitar leads and humor. You can hear Granger’s Moonshine at local venues around St. Paul and find each of the three playing in a range of musical configurations with friends and on their own.
